Kano Police Nab 3 Suspects Over Killing Of Mother, Six Children

The Kano State Police Command, said it has used intelligence gathering techniques, that led to the arrest of the three suspects who allegedly organized the murder of a married woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kano on Saturday.

Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, a team of highly skilled police officers successfully arrested the suspects.

Those arrested include Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu, Kano; Isyaku Yakubu, alias “Chebe,” 40, of Sagagi, Kano; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, alias “Wawo,” 21, of Sabon Gida, Sharada, Kano.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the suspects  were arrested during a sting operation that lasted from 10pm on January 17, 2026 to 4am this Sunday.

The ringleader of the attack, Umar Auwalu, a relative of the late mother of six, confessed to the crime, saying that his group had carried out a series of killings and attacks in recent times, including the killing and burning of two house wives in Tudun Yola, also in Kano metropolis.

According to the statement by the Kano State Police Command, an investigation is in continuation concerning the incident.
