Coup In Guinea Bissau, As Military Detains President Emballo

Soldiers in Guinea Bissau has claimed control of the country, as president Umaro Sissoko Emballo remains in their custody. 

Brigadier General Denis N’Canha, head of the military office of the presidency on Wednesday in Bissau, announced that all borders were closed across the country, assuring the total seizure of the country’s control.

This came just three days after presidential and legislative elections in which both leading candidates of the parties, the Incumbent president and his opposition, claimed victory before official results. Hours earlier, gunfire erupted out near the presidential palace, in Capital Bissau.

The announcement also said the federal constitution and the electoral process in Guinea Bissau have been suspended. Where also the radio stations have been closed.

The Incumbent president Emballo who has previously survived two coup attempts, is currently arrested and remains in the military custody.
