Kano Emirate Dispute: Supreme Court Adjourned Verdict Till 2027
Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba Dan Agundi has said that they expected the court to deliver its final verdict on the Kano Emirate case on Monday.
The monarch however, said the plaintiffs had filed new documents on April 18, 2026, to be included in the case.
Dan Agundi added that it was the filing of these documents that prompted their lawyers, to seek more time from the court to fully study and respond appropriately.
During the hearing on Monday, after discussions between the two parties, the Supreme Court granted the request, adjourning the hearing of the case to a later date.
Recall that the Supreme Court of Nigeria is currently hearing the case between Muhammad Sanusi and Aminu Ado Bayero, where it is awaiting a verdict that will determine who is the legitimate Emir of Kano, a verdict that is expected to bring an end to the long-running dispute between the two rulers.
The Kano Emirate case continues to attract public attention, given its importance and impact to the monarchy system and politics of the state.
