Political Thugs Attack Phone Vendors, As Mobile Phones Stolen Mid-Day In Kano

A group of heavily armed thugs has attacked a mobile phone vendors at Farm Centre market during the busy shopping hours.

The incident occurred on Monday at around 1:30 pm. Ambassador Jamilu Bala Gama, the Chairman of the farm centre mobile phone market, told RFI Hausa reporter that the gang of thugs, who came in the convoy of a political candidate, attacked the mobile phone vendors, smashed the windows and stole the phones.

He added that after stealing the phones, they went on a rampage, injuring some people and also smashed the windows of public vehicles.

Ambassador Gama said that the incident was very sad, as the thugs damaged the property of the shopkeepers and injured some people. He said that the areas affected by the incident include Yayo Plaza, New Dubai and City Plaza.

According to him, the situation was brought under control with the assistance of police officers from the Farm Centre Division, Area Command and other police stations in the vicinity of the incident.

However, reacting to the politician’s claim that his team was targeted, Ambassador Jamilu Bala Gama said the traders were sitting in one place doing their usual business, saying that they were suddenly attacked by the thugs on their way to a hotel near the market. He finally confirmed that some people close to the politician had contacted him to find a solution.
