Court Grants Bail To El-Rufai, Orders Him To Pause Media Interviews, As Another Court Adjourned Hearing

A Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to Malam Nasiru El-Rufai in connection with his case with the Independence Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

In a report by Sahara Reporters, the former Governor and his counsel, was ordered by the court, to must not grant any interviews pending conclusion of the hearing.

In addition to this, he was ordered to at every first day of the month, to report to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC, and deposit his passport with the court.

However, a state high court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the former governor’s bail application.

Malam Nasiru El-Rufai will now remain in the custody of the ICPC until April 21, the date fixed by the state court for the re-hearing of the bail application.

Reports says there was a heavy security presence at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday, as El-Rufai appeared for the ruling on his bail application.

The ICPC is charging the former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, with a number of charges including:

Misappropriation of public funds.

Illegal possession of public property.

Money laundering.

The ICPC said the case was filed to investigate the allegations. It also stated that there is a separate case filed at the State High Court involving El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule.

According to the agency, in this case, they are accused of abuse of office and fraud, attempted fraud, and undue favouritism.

The commission said that both cases were filed on March 18, 2026, and that El-Rufai had already been duly served with summonses.
