Corruption Case Against Garo: Kano High Court Debunks Viral Dismissal Report

The Kano State High Court has dismissed what it described as a false, and misleading viral report circulated on social media, claiming that Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji struck out a corruption case against former commissioner, Murtala Sule Garo.

The judiciary’s spokesperson, Baba-Jibo Ibrahim, said no such court sitting or ruling took place, noting that the claim was only discovered on social media.

“We were alerted to a story alleging that a court cleared Murtala Garo of corruption charges. This is completely false,” he said.

Jibo went on explaining that the confusion likely came from a ruling delivered last year, where the court dismissed the case and advised proper investigation before refiling.

According to him, the matter has since been refiled before another court.

He further noted that Justice Ma’aji is currently on leave, stressing that no recent proceedings have been held on the case.
