“Many of us who are in this situation, our salary is enough for all our monthly needs, but we are not doing it for ourselves, we are doing it for the rising generation of the profession.

“But the “grassroots” who are the core of the field, are “reporters” who went out every day for news gathering, who do all the hard work of the radio, but are they paid properly? And do you expect them to work for you the right way?
“That is why we are offering more advices to motivate our young journalists, especially those working with radio stations, to stand up and embrace changes, as the world has changed, in the 2020s now you can do journalism with your mobile phone, to help your life,” Aliyu Alhassan said.
Aliyu Sufiyanu Alhassan was a seasoned journalist, he worked at Express Radio, from there to Aminci Radio where he spent a years, as head of political unit of the station, also the presenter of popular political program of the station, known as “Rigar ‘Yanci. He later resigned and joined Hikima Radio.
Some evidences indicate that while some Radio stations pays too little salary to their staff, most of them can only provide ID card to the staff especially reporters, without any specific monthly salary or even allowance. Such shallow approaches to employees welfare, influences some journalists to engage in brown envelope collection, which undermines trust and integrity of the media, and other forms of corruption that breaches the code of ethics of journalism.
