El-Rufai Remains In Detention, As Court Adjourned Bail Ruling To April 14

Former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), shortly after a Court proceeding in Kaduna. 

El-Rufai was detained on 10 count charges of alleged corruption and misappropriation of public funds, however, he denied all the changes labelled against him.

The court on Wednesday, ordered him to remain under the custody of the ICPC until his bail application is heard on a date fixed by the court.

The former governor arrived at the court premises at about 9:00am in a Hilux and was escorted by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Speaking to journalists after the court session, one of El-Rufai’s lawyers, Ubong Akpan SAN, confirmed the adjournment of the case but said the leader of their team would speak to journalists later.
