ADC Dispute: INEC Removes Sen David Mark As Party’s National Chairman
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has removed name of Senator David Mark as the chairman of the ADC and Abdulra’uf Aregbesola as the party’s secretary-general from its list.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, INEC said it took the decision in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling and the ongoing case before the Federal High Court in Abuj, over the ongoing dispute between the two parties, namely David Mark and Nafi’u Gombe.
In a judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on March 12, 2026, the court directed both parties to await the verdict of the Federal High Court.

The commission said that following the judgment of the Court of Appeal, it received applications from lawyers for the two opposing parties in court, with David Mark’s side seeking to accept Nafi’u Gombe’s side while Gombe’s side sought to have David Mark’s name removed from its list of party leaders approved by INEC.
The crisis began in July 2025 when the ADC leadership resigned and David Mark became the party’s leader.
However, the party’s former deputy leader, Nafi’u Gombe, challenged the election, insisting that the leadership must be established in accordance with the party’s constitution.
