2027: The Pursuit Of Leadership Should Not Be A Reason For People To Commit Crimes – CG Musa Tells Politicians
The Nigerian Minister of Defense, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has accused some political elements of being involved in the ongoing insecurity, saying that such individuals are using violence to achieve their political goals.
In an interview with TRT Afrika Hausa at the Antalya Diplomacy Conference he attended in Turkey, the Minister said it was unfortunate that attacks were increasing during the run-up to elections.
“There are those who do not want peace, and whenever elections come around, you see violence increase,” he said.
He added that the killings were not in the interest of anyone, warning that the pursuit of leadership should not be a reason for people to commit crimes.

“If you want to be a leader, you do not have to send people to kill others,” he stressed.
The Minister also called on Nigerians to unite in the fight against perpetrators of violence, saying that these people do not love the country, adding that there are outsiders who are benefiting from the current situation.
He said that cooperation between the public and security agencies is crucial in ending the insecurity, saying that if peace is achieved, it will open the door to development.

Musa assured that the security agencies will continue to work hard, day and night to ensure security in the country, expressing hope for success with God’s help.
Speaking on the impact of the current global uncertainty, the Minister said that international conflicts have a direct impact on Nigeria.
He explained that tensions in places like Iran, Israel and the United States, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, are affecting the economy and security of the world as a whole.
According to him, the current surge in commodity and oil prices is linked to these conflicts.
He added that the participation of about 5,000 people at the Antalya Diplomatic Conference shows how concerned countries are about the current global situation.

The minister stressed that Nigeria is not alone in facing the security challenges, calling for cooperation between people and the government to overcome the challenges.
“Without peace, there will be no development,” he said, adding that dialogue and cooperation with other countries are essential in finding lasting solutions of the problems.
However, the public is commenting on the minister’s remarks. While it is believed that he should have curtail the problem to save lives since he stated clearly he knows individuals behind the crime, the ones who are responsible for creating it, what is he waiting for? Especially at his capacity as a Minister of Defence, whose responsibility it is to solve the problem, that is why he was given the position.
It can be recall that, recently the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has made a remarks on the issue of insecurity, in which he link it to the future elections.
According to Akpabio, once the elections are over, the security problem will be resolved.
