APC: Gombe Guber Race Consensus, Unconstitutional – Says Pantami
A fresh crisis has erupted in Gombe state politics, after Sheikh Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami came out in public to express his disapproval of the so-called consensus process being pursued by the state government.
Reports indicate that Pantami stated that the process being carried out under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is unconstitutional and violates the APC party’s primary election rules.
According to him, any attempt to force candidates to accept a consensus without their consent, is against the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026. He stressed that:

“All candidates must agree in written before a consensus can be said to have been reached, If one person refuses, it is necessary to go back to direct primaries.
Pantami added that such “reconciliation” is, if not illegal, then it is haram, as it violates the rights of candidates and democracy.

Despite his strong words, he urged his supporters to remain calm and abide by the law and order, assuring that appropriate measures are being taken to challenge this move.
On the other hand, Pantami whom statement made available through his supporters group ‘Pantami Movement’ indicated that his supporters should prepare for the possibility of holding direct primaries if the law is followed properly.
