Nafi’u Gombe: Any Candidate Above 50 Years Will Not Contest Under ADC In 2027
Nafi’u Bala Gombe, who claims to be the legitimate leader of the opposition ADC, has vowed to ban any candidate above the age of 50 from contesting under the party in the future elections.
Nafi’u Gombe made this known in an interview with BBC Hausa, where he said that his main priority now is to give the youth a political opportunity to participate in the governance of Nigeria.
He went on saying that his goal is to see the government of Bola Tinubu removed in the 2027 general elections.
He also said that he had also accused senior politicians who joined the party, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, among others, of not being legitimate members of the party.

He further said that they were all elderly people who had reached the age of 75, while the others was 88 to 90.
Nafi’u Gombe said that at first these people humiliated him and showed him that he was nothing and nobody’s son and showed that he was a child, attributing the words to Babacir Lawal who said them to him face-to-face during a meeting.
However, in his claim that the people he was challenging were not legitimate members of the party, he made a mistake while responding to a question about the congratulatory message he posted to them after their entry into the party, which he posted on his social media account before, and later on changing his mind and deleting the message.

According to him, he posted the message with good intention to congratulate them on their admission into the ADC party.
Many commentators are viewing the Nafi’u Bala Gombe case as one that has a lot of confusion and misleading direction. While some accuse him of being used to weaken the opposition party which is seen as a potential threat to the ruling APC party in the upcoming elections.
